答案 University Graduates’ Craze for Government Posts The increasing pressure of hunting for jobs has brought a great number of university graduates to attend civil servants examinations. Of course, only a very few of them can finally achieve their goals. Nevertheless, the proportion of graduates applying for government posts has never declined. The craze for government posts has become a phenomenon that cannot be ignored, and has touched off a heated debate. In my opinion, this craze is ascribed to a lot of reasons, which come down to the following aspects. First of all, the college enrollment expansion and the irrational arrangement of courses and majors have made it more and more difficult for graduates to find jobs. Most posts are unstable, with the risk of unemployment or layoff. And the laws and regulations regarding welfare of employees are hardly fully implemented due to the lack of supervision and the great demand for posts. Thus, the pressure for university graduates to find a satisfactory job has become much more serious than ever before. Second, government posts are relatively stable, with fine income and welfare. The workload is modest compared with many others, and many troublesome problems, such as accommodation and medical care can also be solved with some favorable policies. These advantages are so appealing to graduates that few are willing to abandon the opportunity. Last but not least, many candidates are only graduates who are uncertain of their future. They just want to have a try to take the civil servants examination. Sometimes they apply for the post just because it is said to be a good choice and there’s no better alternative. And this is the reason why so many candidates attend the examination even with no previous preparation. In this case, the examination is viewed as a kind of practice for a future career, and the result to some extent is not so important. In conclusion, the craze of university graduates for government posts is caused by a combination of multiple factors. However, all roads lead to Rome, and a government post is by no means the only choice. It is wrong-headed to equate success after graduation with a post in government. Sometimes it is not worth getting such a post at the cost of one’s specialties, and even academic life. Meanwhile, more measures should be taken to guarantee the interests of posts other than government ones, so that the gap between civil servants and other workers can be lessened. This is the best way to diminish the craze.
