Worse
Jim ( Canada) : I thought long and hard about the importance of the change the web and the Internet have had in my life. It came down to a matter of convenience having information at my fingertips without having to leave my house. On the down side it is easy to get lost in the sea of information forgetting your original goal.
Michael (China) : The Internet has changed my life completely. The worst thing is that I sleep late at nights because I’m so addicted to the Internet. I don’t even go out a lot like I used to when I was off from work. On my days off, I just sit in front of my laptop. It is worrying because I don’t see my friends now, and I just text them now and again or see and chat to them on the Internet.
Jasmine (Germany) : Without Internet, I’d have to go to bookstores and libraries more. I would be writing letters by hand, talking with my neighbors, and spending more time outside playing with my kids. I would still subscribe to a newspaper and read the funnies lying on my couch. The world would look much bigger and I would probably travel more.
Better
Amanda (the UK) : The biggest change the Internet has had on my life is that it has given me the ability to stay in touch with family and friends around the world. I frequently communicate with friends in Antarctica, Mexico, and the US. If I did not have the Internet, I feel as if I would not be in touch with a lot of the people I communicate with.
Rosie (China) : The Internet or web has provided a means of using my time more efficiently. With the glut of information at my fingertips I am able to comparison-shop, read reviews, and purchase items from my home and have them delivered to my home. I am able to pay bills and manage my bank account over the Internet. Without Internet, my telephone bill would be a lot higher than it is, plus I’d be standing in line at the post office more. Internet access is a life improvement.
SimeyC (the UK) : In many ways! Firstly, and most importantly, I met my wife online—I was in the UK, while she was in the US. We have been married for 14 years so without the Internet I would not be happy. I now have a wonderful life. I am very fortunate to have found her.
Leon (Australia) : It changed my life. My customers are from different countries and continents, and the same with my staff. The biggest thing is I’m spending more time on the Internet than anywhere else. If the Internet is down, it is worse than a power failure. I can do without power ( my laptop has batteries) , but when I’m not on the Internet I feel I’m missing something.
Cindy (France) : Without the Internet, I would not be able to travel to various countries by myself. But now all information is just a click away. I no longer need to follow travel agency and I can plan my own trip according to my preference. This has slowly turned me into a travel addict!

答案 Has the Internet Made Your Life Better or Worse? People have easy access to the Internet nowadays, easier with the widespread use of smart phones. As to the question whether the tremendous changes make our life better or worse, people have various ideas. Some people thank the Internet for making their life better. With the convenience of the Internet, they could stay in touch with families and friends, anywhere anytime, complete trade communication without meeting with each other, or pay bills and manage bank accounts without waiting in long queues. They could also plan DIY trips according to their own preference with all information just a click away, or find a true love out of this cyber world. In contrast, a lot of others blame the Internet for stealing their time, isolating them from families and friends, depriving them of their good habits such as going to the bookstores, reading newspapers, or traveling around. They also complain that the vast sea of information gets people lost easily. Balancing the positive statements against the negative ones, I think the benefits we gain from the Internet outweigh the harms. First, the Internet narrows the distance among people. With tools like Facebook, Twitter, WeChat, Tecent QQ, etc. one could have a video-chat with or send photos or voicemails to his families and friends in whatever time and place and vice versa. Never in history have we been so close to others. Besides, the Internet breaks up all the barriers whether territorial or professional, in learning. A Chinese student can listen to a lecture delivered by a Harvard professor in America; an artist could access to some professional knowledge about the functions of some chemicals. Last but not least, the Internet provides a platform for trade. Companies are trading with their clients online, and customers are purchasing commodities from various shopping websites. The wealth created online is incredibly large, which surely promotes the development of economy. In a word, the benefits that the Internet has brought to our life are far beyond what I list here. As to the grumbles about time-stealing , it is just a matter of personal self-management.
