On College Admission In recent years there is a hot topic whether every high school graduate should have chance to enter colleges or only those who pass the examinations have college admission. As far as I’m concerned, admission to college should be offered by examinations because until now we still have not found amore efficient and-reliable way to test a person’s knowledge and ability than examinations. Furthermore, college admission is necessary from the aspect of the college education purpose. We all know that students at college are trained to broaden their scope of knowledge and develop the ability to reason and explore the world. It is students’ chief task to master academic skills although we have to admit that college students should also learn to adapt themselves to the real society. After all, knowledge is the basis of the work we would take in the future. Some knowledge in college which students will acquire can’t be digested and assimilated by every high school graduate so that it is tough for them to put these theories into practical application. Besides, another function of examinations is to reveal a person’s comprehensive capacities. We can say that students with outstanding traits usually get high marks. Although college is a unique stage of connecting high school and society, examination is not the only way to prepare our students for the future. So we shouldn’t put too much emphasis on examinations. But in most cases, persons with excellent abilities really could be picked out by examinations.
