Every profession or trade, every art, and every science has its own technical vocabulary. The 【C1】______of these technical vocabulary is on one hand to【C2】______things or processes with no names in ordinary English, and on the other hand to secure greater exactness in terminology(术语). 【C3】______, they save time, for it is much more【C4】______, to name a process than to describe it. Thousands of these technical terms are very【C5】______included in every large dictionary, yet, as a whole, they are rather【C6】______the outskirts of the English language than actually within its borders.
Different occupations, however, differ【C7】______in their special vocabularies. Any important experiment,【C19】______made in a remote or provincial laboratory, is at once reported in the newspaper and other media, and everybody is soon talking about it. Thus our common speech is always【C20】______up new technical terms and making them commonplace.
