M: My name’s Matthew. I’m 19. I’m British and from the north of England—my home’s only a couple of hours’ drive from here. Like Sakai, and most of the British male population, I’m a football fan. I think football is the greatest sport. It is fantastic to go to football matches here in England. I support Manchester United and I saw all their games last season. Live football is so exciting and unpredictable. I play for my college team. That’s great fun and also good for keeping fit. And, Sakai, I’d love to get a few games organized while we’re here!
W: Hi. My name’s Sue and I’m from the States—from California. I’m glad there are so many nationalities here but I’m happy there are one or two other Americans as well as me. I’m afraid I don’t play soccer but I like all kinds of sports—mainly as a spectator. And, typically American, I think American football is a more exciting game than soccer. Perhaps some of you guys can convince me that’s not tree! The sport I like most of ail is ice skating. I find it beautiful and artistic. I just love to watch the elegant movements and wonderful shapes those skaters create. I do some skating myself—but only for fun. I can’t do ice "dancing". But, hem, I’m ready for anything! I’ll try any sport you suggest. I’m sure we’ll all have great fun together!
