答案 Harmful Plagiarism in Academic Field in China Nowadays most of us might come across people who copy other’s ideas or sentences for their own benefits. This phenomenon is most harmful to the academic circle even the whole society. In my opinion, their harmfulness can be summarized in the following three respects. First of all, plagiarism devalues the original work of other and cruelly violates the rights of the original copyright holders. Secondly, people’s writing and thinking skill will not be developed if there is plagiarism here and there. Finally, plagiarism is a violation and can result in the failure of a class, removal from a program, suspension or dismissal from the college. In my mind, the government, organizations and mass media should join hands to put an end to this problem. On the one hand, the government should punish the plagiarizers severely lest they harm the authors again. On the other hand, mass media should report the bad effect of plagiarism to educate common citizens. To me, if I need use phrases or sentences of another in my own paper, I will put quotation marks around them. At least I will use words or have a sentence structure different from the original work, while maintaining the gist of the original author’s idea instead of just rearranging or replacing a few words.
