答案 Where Can the Bird Have a Rest? The clear-cut woods, the huge axe and the large teardrop completely interpret the woeful fate of the bird. With no homeland to perch on, how can the bird expect its tomorrow? Just as woods are indispensable for birds, so is the Earth for human beings. The Earth, a bright blue planet in the boundless universe, is the only homeland on which we live and proliferate generation by generation. We depend on and therefore receive blessings from its natural resources for many many centuries. The past decades, however, have witnessed shocking changes on our homeland caused by the development of industrialization. Our work on environmental protection tends to fall far behind the economic development. And this trend has taken its toll: what we "enjoy" today is not bright sky, clear water, thick forests or peaceful life, but disturbing noise, increasingly-warming climate, harmful acid rain, serious soil erosion, and the destruction of ozone layers and the extinction of species as well. But all these by-products of the civilized society should be answered for. It is sensible of us to improve our environmental condition by changing our consumption habits, using renewable resources and cutting down energy consumption. And most important of all, we should try every means to arouse the people’s awareness about environmental protection and our decision-makers should increase the funding in this section. If the public environmental awareness were sharpened, the bird could not be so sorrow. The tear deserves our pondering.
