答案 Should Starbucks Leave the Palace Museum? Recently, there is a heated discussion on the issue of saying Yes or No to the Starbucks in the Palace Museum. Those who criticize its existence argue that it is out of tune with Chinese culture. They claim that a schedule be made to let it go. But people who advocate keeping it, on the other hand, maintain that we shouldn’ t make a fuss because it is the symbol of globalization and can bring us foreign exchanges. Every medal has its reverse. But for my part I side with the former. Firstly, the discomfort at heart because Starbucks here has completely destroyed the peaceful harmony and solemnity of the palace, the diamond of Chinese culture. Although Starbucks can offer the place to relax, we must have the consciousness of culture protection. Secondly, the Palace Museum is not a place for people to amuse themselves by joining themselves in some comic programs or easy-going games but to enrich their minds by reviewing history of the past of the country. Last but not least, to achieve the goal of successfully hosting 2008 Olympic Games, however, we still have to show to foreigners our deep love to the culture of our ancestors. To summarize, the uniqueness of Chinese culture can not be sacrificed for the benefits of business activities. It is high time we took actions and Starbucks has just told us why.
