Since the Internet rumors are usually unfounded and baseless, they are not only annoying but also proved to be destructive. If we turn a blind eye to them, they may cause unimagined negative influences or damages to our society. For instance, the rumors about possible earthquakes. In this case, if the government fails to act promptly, panic may gender/rise among people, leading to unnecessary losses of human lives and property. Given the seriousness of this problem, effective measures must be taken. Firstly, the government needs to keep an eye on the Internet closely for the good of the public. Secondly, it should be made known that people who spread rumors on the Internet will be held responsible. They have to face legal regulation if the consequences of this wrong doing are established.
