W: Hey, Matt. Congratulations to you! You’ve won the prize in the singing competition.
M: Thanks a lot. I was just going to tell you. It seems that you’ve already known.
W: Are you kidding? I have watched the competition from the start to the end.
M: Really? Well, thanks for coming. Did you enjoy it?
W:(6)Not really. Most of the singers didn’t give their best performance, did they?
M: Yeah. Maybe they were too nervous.
W: Except you. How could you be so calm? I mean, I didn’t find you were nervous at all.
M:(7)I was, actually. But once I started to sing, I forgot all about the audience and the competition. I just wanted to show my best and enjoyed the moment of music that belonged to me.
W: OK. You seem to be crazy about music, aren’t you?
M: Of course.
W: What is your favorite kind of music ?
M: My favorite kind of music is alternative music.(8)But generally I like all types of music, apart from country music.
W: I’m the same way. I hate country, except for Johnny Cash.
M: Yeah, yeah. The older country is good. But the newer, I don’t like the newer stuff.
W: Yeah. How expensive are CDs in your country?
M: Well, a brand new CD is probably between about 15 and 20 dollars,(9)but you can find used CDs for anything from a dollar to 20 dollars, I guess, depending on the CD. So you can find cheap CDs.
W: Wow, that’s pretty cheap. Do you play a musical instrument?
M: No, I don’t. Although when I was a kid I played the piano and a little bit of the guitar, I’ve long since forgotten all of that.
W: Oh, really? Usually, you pick up the guitar and you don’t stop playing it.
M: Well, there was no talent.
W: Do you go to concerts?
M: I do. I really enjoy going to concerts, but I like to go to small venues, small shows.(10)I don’t like those big stadium shows where you need binoculars just to see the stage.
W: Yeah, I agree. And the last question, most importantly, do you sing in the shower?
M: Of course I do! Every chance I get.
W: Wow, what kind of songs do you sing?
M: I guess anything that’s in my head, the last thing I heard I guess.
W: Can you sing something right now?
M: I don’t think so. This isn’t a shower.
W: Yeah. Listeners are important. This is not a shower.
M: Just kidding. Well, I enjoy talking with you every time. But I have to go. See you!
W: See you next time!
