答案 Before you go inside the restaurant, make sure you spend some time reading the menu outside quite carefully. Try to notice what the prices include and what they don’t include. In particular look for any mention of cover charges, service charge and VAT. You might be in for a nasty shock when the bill comes if you haven’t budgeted for these "extras" and not all the menus you’re shown at the table mention these items. Once inside and seated comfortably at a table that suits you (and if you want a table by the window or in a quiet corner, do say so when you book) look at the menu carefully and insist that you’re allowed enough time to decide at leisure what to order and to discuss with your companions what you’re each going to have. There’s nothing worse than being rushed into making a choice you’ll regret later. By the way, don’t be afraid to order two different dishes and to swop with a companion half-way through.
