To begin with, sports are closely related to the image of our country. Before the founding of new China, our country was regarded as the sick man of the Southeast Asia. Under the leadership of the Party, China has made great progress in sports. The remarkable achievements made by Chinese athletes such as Liu Xiang have shaped a new image of China in the world. What’s more, Chinese can do what others can if we love our nation. People used to believe that Chinese are weak in field and track sports events. Liu Xiang’s triumph in the track event has proved the potential of Chinese people. A man with a heart of patriotism will bravely challenge and conquer any hardship and difficulties. In one word, sports can not be separated from the national soul and spirit. In my view, more work should be done so as to improve our sports and enhance our national image. On the one hand, an education campaign should be launched to inform people of the importance of sports activities. On the other hand, young people should be encouraged to face any difficulties in the life, work and study with the spirit of patriotism.
