Charging More During Peak Seasons Nowadays, as people’s living standards are enhancing, an increasing number of people choose to travel during their holidays. While tourism boosts local economy, it brings a heavy burden to sites of historical interest. Recently, many sites of historical interest in China have begun or are considering charging tourists higher entry fees during peak travel seasons. Some express objection to this idea while others support it. In my opinion, it is a wise decision to charge more during peak seasons. The first and foremost approval of this proposal is based on that charging tourists higher entry fees is good for the protection of historical sites. As we all know, too many tourists would inevitably produce a lot of rubbish and further pose a threat to the environment. There are even people who litter waste paper, fruit peels and spit onto the ground. For example, quite a few tourists have the habit of inscribing their names on trees or rocks as a mark of their arrival. People take photos of objects which might be vulnerable to camera light. Therefore, charging higher entry fee can help to protect the environment and properties as well. In the second place, charging higher entry fees is good for the safety of visitors. Accidents are more likely to happen in overcrowded places. We have read many reports of injuries or even deaths caused by congested people. According to a survey conducted by the China’s Bureau of Tourism, 69% of all the accidents are caused, by overcrowded people. Therefore, raising the entry fees during peak seasons can assure a better environment for tourists. Last but most importantly, charging higher entry fees can help to develop the sites of historical interest on the whole. In old days, the maintenance and protection of the historical sites were more often than not deferred for lack of fund. But now, with the money collected from the entry fees, local governments will be able to adopt more effective measures to better preserve the historical sites and perform the daily maintenance ritual. Raising fees can also help to improve holding capacity of noted historical sites. With everything said above, I have made my firm stand thoroughly approving of such a raise of entry fees during peak seasons. Admittedly, we should protect the rights of the economically underprivileged and give them opportunities to access these places. For instance, they are allowed to enter historical sites during off-peak seasons free of charge. In a nutshell, I strongly support the proposal to raise entry fees during peak seasons.
陈述观点时,可以使用first/firstly,second/secondly…也可以使用the first and foremost approval of/objection to;in the first (second)place…
“死伤”可以用文中的injuries or even deaths,或者casualties。
第三点虽然是最后一个理由,但最为重要(Last but most importantly)。
