    我校建校于1951年，曾名华东纺织工学院、中国纺织大学，1999年更名为东华大学，目前专任教师1200余人，在校学生3万余人。
    60年历经沧桑巨变。我校从建校之初的一所单科性的纺织院校发展成为如今以工为主，工、理、管、文等学科协调发展、有特色的多科性大学。
    60年感悟岁月峥嵘。东华人秉承“崇德博学、砺志尚实”的校训，凝练“积极向上、爱校荣校、崇尚学术、追求卓越、敬业奉献”的精神，与时俱进，攻坚克难，为国家的经济发展和社会进步做出了重要贡献。
    今天，高朋满座、嘉宾云集，东华人有机会与来自世界各地大学的校领导和专家学者们，共同探讨“提高办学质量与现代大学制度建设”这个主题。各位嘉宾的真知灼见、各友好院校在发展过程中的经验，将为我校继往开来、持续发展聚集更多元的智慧、开拓更高远的未来。

答案 Distinguished leaders, guests, dear teachers and students, First of all, please allow me, on behalf of Donghua University, to extend my warmest welcome to your participation in the Sino-Foreign University Presidents Forum. This forum is one of the activities to be held for the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the founding of Donghua University. East-China Textile Institute of Science and Technology, the predecessor of the university, was founded in 1951. It then renamed China Textile University and Donghua University in 1999. Currently, the university has a faculty of 1, 200-plus full-time teachers and an enrollment of over 30, 000 students. After 60 years’ vicissitudes, Donghua University has evolved from a single-subject textile college to a distinctive multi-disciplinary university, with given priority to engineering, and a balanced development of a complete range of disciplines in engineering, science, management and arts. For 60 years, teachers and students of Donghua University have performed in accordance with the school motto of Integrity, Academy, Ambition and Practicality. In the spirit of being positive, loving school, respecting science, pursuing excellence and showing dedication, Donghuanese have worked hard to keep up with the time and to overcome difficulties, thus contributing a lot to the country’s economic and social progress. Today, with so many distinguished guests and friends here, Donghuanese boast the opportunity of communicating with school leaders, professors and experts from world’s various universities, and exchange ideas on how to improve education and build a better modern university system. Your intelligence and insights, as well as your own development experience will surely help us in continuing with the past and forging ahead in to the future, and open a brighter future for the university.
