The sad fact is, mental health is becoming an increasingly troublesome issue for undergraduates. Solving the problem calls for collaborative effort between universities and students themselves. On the part of universities, a series of effective measures to improve the mental health of students should be taken. Firstly, courses of mental health should be added to the curriculum. Secondly, the counseling center staff and faculty alike are expected to expand and improve mental health services on campus. On the students’ part, they should try to face the reality and figure out the causes of depression so that they can better understand it. They should also learn how to identify unhealthy behavior or thoughts and make changes accordingly. Besides, students should communicate more with friends, teachers and parents, find better ways to cope with and solve problems, and set realistic goals for their life. To conclude, universities should pay more attention to students’ mental health, and put more effort into developing mental health counseling system on campus, whereas students should try to stay positive and optimistic, and find ways to solve their own problems.
