答案 My View on Shanzhai Culture "Shanzhai", one of the hottest words these years, has attracted our great attention because of its wide spread in various areas, ranging from shanzhai IT products to shanzhai Spring Festival Gala Evening. However, with the media all over the rise of shanzhai culture, public opinions are clearly divided. Some argue that China as a developing country has a huge group of people at the grass roots, who are in need of developing their living standard but cannot afford those luxuries like an iphone, a real LV leather bag or a genuine set of Microsoft software. So, as there exists the demand, shanzhai products should be regarded as a peculiar culture of the present developing stage in China and be tolerated. However, other people, including myself, hold more reserved attitudes towards the shanzhai fever. The first and foremost, for all the popularity it has won, a copycat is a copycat. Some advocates may associate it with the DIY spirit and practicality, as shanzhai products often mix imitation with innovation; however, we have to admit there does exist "imitation" which shows little concern on the intellectual property rights. And what makes shanzhai products a good sale mainly lies in its similarity with those of well-known brands. No matter what excuses it may take, the nature of shanzhai products is copying. Moreover, shanzhai products thrive on the current legal loopholes and, under the disguise of anti-dominance slogans, make illegal profits by violating intellectual property rights and evading taxes, destroying the principle of the market and causing great damage to our country’s economic development. And to top it off, while we are free enough to imitate various things which won’t be charged by owners, the real creativity of Chinese people will be destroyed, as those shanzhai iphones, shanzhai LV leather bags are not the real creation for us but are the quotes from the other’s fruits of labors. That is why we don’t have the kind of big software companies as Microsoft. In sum, compared with the mainstream culture, shanzhai culture nowadays forms its own special living style, whose negative influence has to be clearly acknowledged and pointed out. Otherwise, our younger generations will be seriously affected by the shanzhai culture, and thus lose their sense of judgment on what are the genuine and what are the fake, what are the true and beautiful and what are the false and ugly. Therefore, as the famous compere Ni Ping has called on, in order to stop shanzhai culture and shanzhai phenomena, we have to adopt legal as well as administrative methods, through legislation and through creating public opinion.
