Man: We’ve been discussing it for a month and now we finally made a decision. Personally, I think we should have a vote and get all the share holders involved before any new factories are built. It’s all very well diversifying into new areas, but it involves a huge investment; and getting bigger doesn’t always bring proportionate rewards. Everybody seems to think that going over the final details is very boring, so we’ve ended up making these decisions without any proper research. I am not very pleased about some of the agreements we’ve reached. Certain matters don’t seem to have been looked into properly at all.
Woman: Well, I’m relieved that’s over. It was so awkward when the previous person was so popular. But the vote was pretty unanimous. That’s encouraging as it’s always better to have a leader whom everyone supports. I think Mike was very successful because I felt so apprehensive. It’s difficult when you have to try to persuade everyone, but I was the logical person to propose him. I shouldn’t have been worried because it was just a question of standing up and explaining why. Anyway, he’s got a lot of new ideas, so hopefully he will be a success; and I will be associated with it.
Man: I’m not sure whether it’s realistic to expect us to achieve those sorts of figures. I mean it doesn’t belong to the market all that long and it can take ages for this sort of products to get established. Bill really doesn’t understand the problems. And I always seem to end up arguing with him. He got annoyed, as usual, but it was being unrealistic about what’s possible. I’ve managed to stay calm, but because of our enormous difference in opinion no decisions have been made yet.
Woman: That’s it. We finally decided to do it. The meeting went on for ages, and I don’t think the new chairman was very happy, but it’s a majority decision. We proposed that the company will be floated on the market in June or July but we don’t know what the price will be yet. I’m sure it’s the right thing to do. Really we should have done it last year when the market was more buoyant. Gwent disagreed strongly with Mr. Lee about the date, but it was resolved in the end. I thought they never stopped arguing about it, but I completely support what it was settled in the end.
Man: I think it’s a good plan. It has some problems in that area and it was good when Mrs. Laugh thought through and has come up with something innovative; yes, with something we never thought of before. I think everybody understood that was the direction we wanted to go in in the future. I think it all went very well. We really got to make a thing. Now we all have got to go off and look what she has proposed so that we can come up with some ideas of our own for the next week’s follow up meeting.
