You will read a short passage, listen to a talk, and answer a question about them. After you hear the question, you will have 30 seconds to prepare a response and 60 seconds to record the response.
Now read the announcement from the university newspaper about a policy change of borrowing library art books. You will have 45 seconds to read the announcement. Begin reading now.
Library Art Book Borrowing Policy Change
In response to recent student complaints about library art books being returned in damaged and dirty condition, beginning next semester, the university library will implement a new borrowing policy for art books. Library patrons will no longer be allowed to check out art books or remove these books from the premises. Instead, patrons are encouraged to view art books in the library. The library will be adding more reading tables on the lower levels to provide patrons with comfortable and convenient reading locations. Thank you for your cooperation.
Now listen to two students discussing the announcement.
In the listening the man expresses his opinion about the library policy change. State his opinion and explain the reasons he gives for holding that opinion.
Now Listen to two students discussing the announcement.
W: Did you read the school newspaper today?
M: Yes, I did. I read about the policy change for library art books.
W: Do you think that is a good idea?
M: Yes, I think this change is a good idea. I really hate borrowing a book that has been damaged or ruined.
W: Yeah, me too.
M: Most of the damage done to the library books is caused by people spilling food and drink onto the book. Because the library already has a very strict "no food or drink" policy, I think that the books will be much safer inside the library.
W: You’re right. I don’t see many people eating or drinking in the library.
M: Also, these library art books are, more often than not, extremely large and heavy. They are not very convenient to carry in a backpack or to take home. I think it will be much easier to take these heavy books downstairs to one of the new reading areas instead of taking them home. I can just come back to the library whenever I want to look at them.
W: That does sound a little easier than carrying them all over campus.
M: I hope that this policy change helps avoid ruined books.

答案
The library has rolled out a new policy that forbids borrowing art books out of the library. This policy is designed to protect those books from damage and filth left by careless readers. At the same time, the library will provide more reading places and encourage students to read art books in the library. The man strongly agrees with this new policy, as he personally dislikes ruined and dirty books. He thinks that since eating and drinking are not allowed in the library, those books can be in better condition if kept in the library, and saved from the stains of foods and drinks. Besides, he believes it’s cumbersome to carry those large books back home while reading them right in the library is much more convenient.
