答案
University: Where Will You Go? Since the year 1999, universities in China have been increasing their enrollment. It is unavoidable that a lot of problems emerge accordingly. For example, the administrative proficiency in dealing with students’ affairs has declined and the employment of graduates has become more and more difficult, As a result, universities are becoming more career-oriented than ever before. They have added more professional education courses into the curricula and many lectures have been held to enrich the students’ interview skills. At first glance, it seems to be a good thing because these changes will provide the students with a more brilliant future. But if you give a careful consideration, you will find it is another case in reality. There are, I believe, several reasons for this. First of all, universities are places we seek for academic knowledge and skills, and if all universities became career-training centers, where should we go? Secondly, universities are places where most of the scientific studies are carded out. In a modem society, science and technology have become the first productive forces. If we want to develop our country, we have to pay much attention to scientific study. But if universities all became so career-oriented that students would surely be lack of some fundamental knowledge about scientific study. Thus who could succeed our scientists to continue carrying out the researches and experiments? Thirdly, universities are also places where traditional and modem civilizations are taught to the youth. China has a civilization of more than five thousand years, which all of us are proud of. And modem civilization has brought about earth-shaking changes to the world. All the Chinese people should be familiar with these two kinds of civilization. But if universities only teach students professional skills and neglect their duties of spreading civilization, what would happen? All in all, universities should not pay too much attention to career education. Only by sticking to their original duties can universities become more successful and our country more prosperous.
