It was announced on the news that it had become possible to watch colour programmes on black and white TVs because of some new technology the TV station had invented.(28)People were told to pull a nylon stocking over the screen so they would be able to watch the programmes in colour. Since almost everyone in Sweden had a black and white TV in those days, hundreds of thousands of people tried to do this, even though the news was broadcast on the morning of April 1st.
