Narcissus, a handsome young man, was walking through the woods one day when he heard a girl named Echo walking nearby. She had seen him before and fallen in love with him. Day after day he came to the pool, trying to get the beautiful woman to come out of the water. He got thinner and thinner, sadder and sadder, until finally he died at the side of the pool.
