To get rid of a bad habit, we have, first of all, to come to realize how bad it really is. Bad habits do harm instead of good. For example, many people can’t resist the temptation of cigarettes. In fact, smoking is a bad habit though lots of people like it. Many studies have shown that those who do smoke die of lung cancer more often than those who don’t. To get rid of a bad habit, we also need courage and determination. It is very easy to acquire a bad habit, but it is difficult to get rid of it. The more we do a thing regularly, the more we tend to like doing it; and if we do not continue to do it, we may feel awkward. Therefore, to get oneself out of a bad habit takes a lot of courage and determination. However, we should never stop trying to get rid of bad habits. Bad habits do not come suddenly. They come little by little before people become aware of them. So it is necessary and good to us if we try to be strict with ourselves, and therefore prevent forming a bad habit from the very beginning.
