They are convenient to use. The marks they have made are easily erased with a rubber. A pencil is cylindrical in shape. It is a little shorter but slightly thicker than a Chinese chopstick. A very light object, it is about seven inches in length and one fourth inch in thickness. The main body of a pencil is a wooden shaft. The shaft contains a thin stick of black substance called graphite core, the hardness of which varies in different degrees. One end of the shaft is a rubber eraser. The other end is cut into a point.
