If the job of decorating your room -- not only with furniture but with floor and wall coverings, artwork and other elements -- seems too big for your available time, know-how or artistic talent; if you want access to furniture choices available through wholesale showrooms not open to the public; or if you just want the benefit of someone else’s ideas, you may want to consider hiring an interior designer.
You can hire a designer at different levels: for the whole job, from developing a design concept to purchasing and supervising installation of the furnishings, or for a two- or three-hour consultation, just to give you some new ideas and perspective. Even if you hire a designer for a complete job, you can, and should, be involved. It’s important to meet with the designer regularly to review plans, fabric samples, proposed furniture purchases and other needs.
Some designers won’t take you on as a client unless you’re planning a major project. However, others are willing to work with limited budgets. Most designers also understand that you might want a plan now, while expecting to spread out actual purchases over many months. Recently, more and more designers have offered the service of giving your home a new look by rearranging what you already have, and perhaps adding a few new pieces.
Some designers are employed by a store, such as one selling wallpaper, fabric, furniture or floor coveting; others are independent designers working along with or as a member of a design firm.
Some store-based designers offer limited services, while others provide more extensive services, including drawing floor plans, advising on color, ordering materials and making home visits.
What can we learn from the passage?
选项
A、If you want to decorate your rooms, you must hire a designer.
B、You should hire and make use of a designer in a proper way.
C、Independent designers are better and cheaper than the store-based ones.
D、The right way to use a designer is not to interfere in his or her work.
答案
B
解析
此题问从这篇文章中我们得到什么启示。综观全文,主要介绍了设计师的种类以及他们所提供的各种服务。再根据第二段“You can hire a designer at different levels.”的启示,可以确定B项是答案。A项说得太绝对;C项和D项与文章内容不符。
