问题     In this section of the test, you will be asked to choose between two opinions. You will need to answer the question by supporting your choice with examples. After the question, you will have 15 seconds to prepare and 45 seconds to speak.
    Some people prefer to have brothers and others prefer to have sisters. Which would you prefer to have and why?

答案 I would prefer to have a sister because I think it helps to understand people of the opposite sex. I grew up with a sister and I think that it has helped me significantly in my relationships with women. I spent a lot of time with my sister growing up, and this has allowed me to gain an in-depth understanding of the way women’s minds work. It was not always easy, and I remember us having many fights when we were young, but the effort involved in living for so many years with a person of the opposite sex forced me to accommodate another point of view. So, if I were to choose between a sister and a brother, I would prefer to have a sister.
解析     这是独立型题目的第二种题型。考生也不要花太多的时间进行选择。大部分人都曾经在兄弟姐妹关系方面有着这样或那样的经历，联想自身的经历就可以比较轻松地完成这道题目。因此既可以描述自己亲身经历的兄弟姐妹之间关系的长处，也可以描述自己认为理想的兄弟姐妹关系。参考答案以自己和姐姐一起成长的经历为根据进行了说明，主要观点是：正因为自己和姐姐一起长大，所以比较了解女性(…gain an in-depth understanding of the way women’s minds work.)，还可以接受另外一种观点(…accommodate another point of view.)。
    一般来说评价口语回答的标准如下：
    1．主题的展开(topic development)
    2．语言表达能力(delivery)
    3．语言的运用(language use)。
    虽然写作和口语有相似之处，但口语中在展开主题的时候要想使自己的观点更具说服力，方法之一就是在提出自己的观点和相反的观点之后，用某种证据让相反的观点弱化，从而强化自己的观点。参考答案里的It was not always easy, …another point of view.这句话就属于这种类型。另外，参考答案中使用了help, spend, allow, remember, accommodate等多个动词，而且有opposite sex, in-depth understanding, point of view等精炼的词汇，这些都是可以给予很高评价的地方。但是要注意的是如果主题的展开很不自然，却使用了很多生僻词汇，也不会得到很好的分数。
