Yes:
Even in the richest country, there are a lot of people who are living in poor conditions and need help from others. So it is kind of us to give a helping hand.
Most people prefer direct aid, such as doing voluntary work in a community or providing food and clothing for the homeless people, because it can immediately make a difference to the life of those who are in urgent need.
Direct help involves more human touch and may help build an emotional bond between the givers and the receivers. In this way, the beneficiaries are more likely to become grateful and willing to pass their love to others when one day they are able to.
No:
Charity organizations can allocate the various resources they have collected to a wider range of people according to their different needs.
Those who donate money to charity organizations believe that, compared with other forms of help, donating money can meet a wider range of needs. Not everyone is able to donate a large sum of money, but many a little makes a mickle. Many a penny amounts to a big sum, which can be used to build schools, hospitals and roads in poor areas. Big goals can be achieved more easily by donating money to charity organizations.
Charity organizations can raise more funds so as to help more people.

Offering Help Directly or Donating Money to Charity Organizations? Different people have different choices as to whether one should offer help directly to people in need or donate money to charity organizations. Some people prefer to provide direct help to people in need for it is convenient and has an immediate effect. Others claim that money should be donated to charity organizations, which can not only distribute resources to more needy people in the world but also carry out large charity projects. Personally, I believe both ways should be encouraged. For one thing, when someone in your community gets into trouble, it may take him a long time to receive the aid from charities. Therefore, your direct help can improve his situation at once and his suffering will be relieved. For another, some problems are so complicated that an individual cannot tackle them alone, such as poverty, pollution and natural disasters. Then the support from the government and charity organizations is absolutely vital. In brief, both approaches are important and necessary as long as people in distress can get help to tide over difficult times. However, no matter which way we choose, we must make sure that our help goes to those who need it most.
