Read the texts from a magazine article about dressing style. For questions 61 to 65, match the name of each person to one of the statements ( A to G) given below. Mark your answers on your ANSWER SHEET 1.
1st Person:
I don’t really know if I have a specific style. I mean I’m not into a, you know, hip-hop or retro or anything like that. I just basically like what’s comfortable. And, well of course, usually what’s good on me. But I definitely go for comfort over anything else. Ah, my favorite types of clothes, I would have to say, are T-shirts and jeans. Oh, I like vests. But I would definitely say I’m not trendy, definitely not. I’m not conservative either, though. I just like to be comfortable.
2nd Person:
I think my favorite clothing right now, well, I’m in a transition period between unique and conservative. I’m almost done with school and I’m working part-time in an office. Well, my favorite unique clothing, I have a pair of pants that I got from a vintage clothing store. You know those stores when you buy old clothes and stuff. I guess it’s check pants that are way too big, l definitely have to wear a belt with them. I wore them at high school and college. They are a pair of pants that I probably won’t ever throw away.
3rd Person:
My favorite kind of clothing is T-shirt and jeans, and kind of like, you know. Pink is popular now again and I love pink. And kind of like baggy jeans and platform shoes. Let’s see, something comfortable, but yeah, you know, really cool. And you know some kind of Clothing that people notice me in. That’s the kind of clothing I like.
4th Person:
People say, you know, that personality is more important than how people look. But honestly, when you first meet someone, you can’t see their personality. You can only tell something about their personality from how they look. So clothes are important to me. They can convey certain message about myself.
5th Person:
I prefer not to draw attention to myself, because I am not used to be the target of others’ interest. When in unique clothes, I feel myself always under the gaze of the public, so I have to pay attention to my every move and gesture. Conventional clothes can spare me so much trouble, and I can feel more at ease and more free.
Now match each of the persons to the appropriate statement.
Note: There are two extra statements.
Statements
A. Clothes can convey message about personality.
B. I prefer comfortable and fashionable clothes.
C. I prefer comfort to anything else.
D. I prefer conventional clothes.
E. I hate spending time choosing clothes.
