答案
Changing Criteria for Good College Students Probably five or more years ago, good college students simply meant students good at aca demic work. On being admitted into a college or university, students usually worked very hard just to be top students. They spent most of their campus time in classrooms, reading-rooms or laboratories. They thought about nothing but their studies. Their motivation was very strong and simple: single-minded concentration remarkable. But the criteria for good college students are changing now. It is true that good marks con tinue to be some students’ dream, yet there is a growing number of students who are concerned much more about things other than academic achievement. They are trying to achieve versatility in such areas as art, music, and sports. They also want eagerly to be involved in activities like speech contests, argumentation on current hot social problems. Moreover, some students have become businessmen or businesswomen by running a company or serving in an enterprise. In short, with these abilities they want to live better in a competitive society after graduation. The changes that have taken place are, generally speaking, changes for the better. Times are different, and job market demands personnel with both intelligent and non-intelligent quailties such as creativity, observation, reasoning, as well as the ability of applying theory into practice. Therefore, students today should be better prepared for challenges and competitions upon graduation.
