As is shown in the drawing, when the Spring Festival Gala is live, many people are keen on shaking red packets with Wechat. The girl is happy for having snatched red envelopes, the man in the middle is complaining that his hands ache for shaking his phone, and the man on the right is sad for getting nothing. This cartoon vividly depicts people’ s joy and sorrow on New Year’ s Eve. Two possible reasons might account for this phenomenon. First of all, with the accelerated pace of modern society, people’ s work and life are increasingly confined to a narrow space. New media such as WeChat and Microblog came into being, providing platforms where friends can chat, exchange views, express their emotions and relieve stress. Eventually, many people are uncomfortable for a life without social network. Secondly, people are gaining access to smart phones in recent years, and various people, no matter young or old, famous or ordinary, are so involved in using WeChat that many merchants begin to make the most use of the platform to make ads, including sending out virtual electronic red envelopes. In my opinion, despite many benefits of using WeChat, one thing should be noted. That is we should spend more time with our parents and friends instead of playing mobile phones, especially on traditional festivals.
