I evaluate the amount of money that is coming into my business in terms of sales and revenue. I regard if the business is profitable, it is a key determinant of success. Woman:Well, as for me, I usually double check my figures. You know, if it’s growing on a regular basis that’s a good indication of success. Chances are I’m getting customers from a competitor because I offer a better product or service. Often, it’s by word of mouth that businesses get new customers who are just entering the market. I also check to see how many new customers I have versus the number of customers who have stopped doing business with me.

Man: I always mail surveys to my customers or have them complete online surveys, because surveys always give me an idea of whether they’re satisfied or not. I have to know my customers’ needs and what they think of my products, service and management, etc. This gives me an opportunity to increase customer satisfaction.

Woman: I try to meet with my employees or have them fill out a survey anonymously to determine their level of job satisfaction. You know, a successful business always wants satisfied employees. When my employees are satisfied they are more committed, enthusiastic, and passionate about my business. Satisfied and happy employees are more productive, which ultimately translates into a successful business. And I also reward my employees for their hard work with incentives and bonuses.

Man: I have a successful business, I am always looking for new products and services for its customers. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of improving on products that are already offered.
