Have You Ever Been to an Amusement Park?
Most of us have probably heard of Mickey, Donald Duck, and many other famous characters. Perhaps we have even seen them in movies. But have you ever been to Disneyland? In fact, there are now several different Disneyland amusement parks around the world.
Disneyland is an amusement park, but we can also call it a theme park. It has all the normal attractions that you can find at an amusement park, but it also has a theme. The theme, of course, is Disney movies and Disney characters. For example, you can find a roller coaster in most amusement parks, but in Disneyland, the theme of the roller coaster is Disney characters. This means that you can find Disney restaurants and buy Disney gifts. And you can see Disney characters walking around Disneyland all the time!
Have you ever heard of a Disney Cruise? These are huge boats that also have the Disney theme. You can take a ride on the boat for several days, and you can sleep and eat on board. There are also many attractions on board, just like any other Disneyland, you can shop, go to Disneyland parties, and eat dinner with Mickey Mouse! The boats take different routes, but they all end up in the same place. That is Disney’s own island.
It is just so much fun in Disneyland!

Activity 2 Scanning Students read the passage again and answer the following questions: ① What is the theme of Disneyland? ② What can we do in Disneyland? ③ What is a Disney Cruise? Then invite several students to answer. Activity 3 Intensive Reading Students read the passage thoroughly and think; "Why is Disney so hot around the world? Why do so many people go to Disneyland no matter they are adults or children? " Then invite some students to share their ideas. 【设计意图】学生能够在阅读文本完成任务的环节中学习略读、扫读等阅读策略,培养批判性思维。 Step 3 Post-reading Activity 1 Designer Suppose students are designers, they can design their own Disneyland, what will be in the park? They can draw or write some sentences of their Disneyland and then show it to the others. Activity 2 How to be a better Disney Show students a video of some recent problems in Disneyland. For example, rubbish is everywhere, workers in the big cartoon figures faint because of the hot weather, customers complain about their check-in entrance, etc. Ask students to think about these problems. Work in groups to figure out why these problems happen and how to solve these problems. 【设计意图】学生能够更好的理解文本内容、珍惜丰富多彩的生活。
