Why do many people surely go to the Louvre when they visit Paris according to the man?
W: What is the biggest challenge facing museums today?
M: We need to bring people back to museums. How many people have returned to museums because they discover their beauty and pleasure?Very few,I suspect. But people who go to Paris will surely go to the Louvre. It is a sort of obligation.
W: Whyis that?
M: Because works of art are not easy to understand. And I think this is the real issue for the future.Until now, there is art education in schools. You have a little bit of knowledge about art.Now this knowledge is lost all over the world. The Louvre does still win 1 million children each year. But,that’s not enough. We have to increase that number by 50%.If the proper measure isn’t taken by the administrator of education, it won’t work.Without education, I am sure we are lost for the future.
W: In recent years.the main attraction hasn’t been the permanent collections but short-term shows. Is that right?
M: Yes, it’s true and I’ve done my share. At the beginning we thought at the Louver, that was not for museums and that exhibition should be in another place. Now, we know that to get people back to museums, you need to have events, that is some special shows.
