答案 The cartoon shows that with the permission of a municipal government, the real estate developer is kicking "historic architecture" out. The traditional historical sites will be replaced by numerous modern apartments. The cartoon puts a question before us: "Should we preserve the historical architectures?" Some would argue that "holding onto the past" is costly or unnecessary, but China’s historic buildings should be cherished for its rich cultural and educational value. For example, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace are all treasures of the past that are part of the Chinese people’s identity and a window into China’s history. Another factor is that historic buldings provide aesthetic value to many cities. In other words, they tend to be elaborate and beautiful, with intricately detailed ornamentation, vibrant tones and complex color harmonies. Every time an ancient structure is demolished, a part of history is lost forever. Thus, by making the preservation of historic architecture a high priority, there is still hope to inherit countless other treasures of Chinese history.
