                 THE INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SKILLS COMPETITION
       The International Youth Skills Competition is held in every two years over a period of three days. The purpose is to bring together the world’s top
41. young technicians. The standard of work is extremely high and the results are
42. a good indication of a nation’s industrial skill base. Teams take their part in
43. a variety of activities ranging from the cookery to leading a hill walking
44. expedition.  Naturally,  these  competitions  can  be  stressful’ as  they  test
45. skills to the limit. However, they are also a very marvellous opportunity
46. for young people to learn from one another’s performance and develop
47. their own  skills. This means that when they return at home they are
48. able  to  transfer  that  what  they  have  just  practised  directly  into  the
49. workplace. At the end of the competition, the winning contestants who are
50. awarded medals in each event, and the country with the most of medals is
51. declared the  overall  winner,  an  honour which  is  becoming  increasingly
52. prestigious as the competition gains our wider recognition throughout the world.
