We have a better understanding of the disease and are finding ways to【C4】______it. Early recognition of the signs of cancer, prompt diagnosis, and aggressive treatment by the appropriate means have made the word cancer less【C5】______than it used to be. Even people with forms of cancer that are still difficult to treat know that current techniques may【C6】______them to outwit the disease until improved treatment becomes available. Many cancer victims have hope where there was once despair.
