Network Games Nowadays Internet games have become very popular on campus. I am impressed most that many of my roommates often spend their evenings sometimes even a whole night, playing such games. They concentrate all their attention on them, with their hands busy operating. Obviously network games give them great pleasure and satisfaction. But if we take a broader perspective, we may find that network games have had many negative impacts on us. First of all, for most students, playing network games is an enormous waste of time and money. As a student, we are supposed to concentrate our attention on our studies. However, some students spend 4 or even 5 hours a day on it, consequently, they will have little time for their study. At the same time they have to pay 5 or 10 Yuan for that a day. It’s very dangerous for a college student, because he may try various illegal means to get money. Besides, those who play Internet game6 day and night will be harmed both physically and mentally for lack of rest and sleep. Some teenagers, especially school children, spend too much time playing them, which certainly do harm to their health and eyes and affect their school achievements. They become slow and unresponsive, and what’s worse, they lose their tempers easily and over-react to situations. If one completely immerses himself in the unreal world and distance himself from his classmates and friends, he will end up feeling lonely and isolated in the real world. Thirdly, and the most serious result is that many of these games are about violence and are not good for our spiritual development. One of the dangers of games is that some people attempt to translate the rules of a game onto reality. For a long time, people have been growing concerned that children and teenagers occasionally imitate violence which they saw on the screen. For example, death is fun on a computer game, and unstable teenagers who "zap" people in computer games without punishment by law most likely to forget the value of life in real world. From what has been discussed above, we may safely draw the conclusion that network games have in a large sense caused crime rates to rise not only because of their destructive influence on young men’s morality, but also because of their vicious effect on their behavior. Therefore, I strongly hold that college students should keep away from internet games, at the same time, the government should censor them more strictly.
