答案 As can clearly seen in the cartoon, a young man with an axe in his hands is trying to cut down a tree. He has almost finished his work and the tree is falling down to a lake beside it. However, a baby is crying in a cradle which is hung on the falling tree. The situation is urgent and the consequence would be grave. What the cartoon reveals is an emergency situation where people are hunting for natural resources and ignoring the environmental protection, which is pretty dangerous. Ever since the Industrial Revolution, human beings have kept on its pace of mechanization, which has greatly improved people’s living standard. But at the same time, factories with columns of thick smoke are replacing the green pastures. Industrial wastewater is poured into the river and sea, poisoning hundreds of thousands of fishes and other water creatures. Sandstorms in recent years are the warning that the desertification is worsening. Greenhouse effect brings us to extreme weather conditions. The frequently happened droughts and floods in our country are the evidences. We human beings have robbed too much from the nature. If we keep on ignoring the signal of warning, we will be punished more severely and the survival of our offspring will be threatened. It is still not too late to take measures to protect the nature and it is everyone’s responsibility to take good care of earth.
