Recently, some young people working outside the hometown are reluctant to join the family reunions during the Spring Festival, which may seem rather puzzling. There are probably three reasons. Firstly, young people working outside are usually carrying great expectation from their family members, yet, many of them don’t get great achievement in the competitive society, so they feel shameful to face the elders and folks of the hometown. Secondly, all kinds of expenses such as the traveling expenses and the holiday gifts become a tremendous burden to the young people with limited pockets. Thirdly, there is a very embarrassing problem for the elder-aged single guys and girls, that is, too much concern from their relatives and neighbors about their marital status. In my opinion, the voluntary loners will hurt their parents ’ feelings to some extent. They should not bury their heads in the sand. On the contrary, they should treat everything with a common heart and try to enjoy the family reunion cheerfully.
