Some people applaud this new teaching method for it can enhance students’ skill to publicize themselves through new media. In my opinion, the measure of grading students by how many followers they get on Weibo is unwise. What’s more, the number of Weibo fans cannot really reflect the quality of its contents. In most cases, it is the gossip and vulgar information that attract the greatest attention. Obviously, posting this type of information to obtain a considerable number of fans cannot be beneficial to students who will become future journalists. All in all, the Weibo assignment can be seen as a new but immature teaching experiment. Teachers’ supervision and guidance on Weibo assignment should be strengthened, only in this way, can it be more effective.
