This summer the Shakespeare Festival will feature four plays that focus on Roman history, and since we’ve just finished reading Julius Caesar, I thought you’d be interested in going. The performances should be excellent. Besides our own college actors, there will be actors coming from New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, and London. The festival has received a grant from the National Endowment for the humanities to support the plays, as well as a series of events to increase the public’s appreciation of the plays. One of the events I hope you can go to is a public lecture by our own chair, Dr. Arthur Johnson. That will be two weeks from Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the community room downtown at the public library. Dr. Johnson will first give a brief introduction to the whole series, and then discuss Julius Caesar in detail. Tickets for the whole series are on sale now at the campus box office. The first play will begin two weeks from Friday.
