答案 Advertising and Society Nowadays advertising is omnipresent: it is the most popular reading, listening, and watching matter. We are exposed daily to at least 200 advertising messages. When we read, walk in the street or watch TV, we see ads. Even when we try to seek tranquility in the car, restaurant, or at home, we are still in danger of being bombarded by advertising. Advertising does offer us some guide for purchases. For example, when a new product comes into being and is advertised, we can quickly learn about its uses and decide if we need it; without advertising, it might take years for us even to hear about it. Moreover, advertising can inform us about more varieties of the same commodity so that we can have alternatives when decide to make a purchase. Despite its immediate benefits, we should constantly be on alert for the slanted, skillfully composed, and even deceptive words of advertisements. Since the purpose of advertising is to persuade people to buy, ads, more often than not, intentionally make illusory promises which lull their victims to spend their hard-earned money on unnecessary junk. Therefore, to read between the "lies" and to see through the tricks of advertising is of vital importance.
