答案 Recently, we have realized the heavy burden on the students in China. In order to respond to the government’s call, many schools began to pay much attention to improve students’ quality. Here the two graphs about a child’s school calendar reveal the shift of educational orientation. Compared with 1999, school children in 2000 are having more quality-building activities than exams. The realization of the importance of students’ qualities makes all the differences. The pictures are drawn to warn people against the worse scenario that students take too many exams. If exams have the final say over students’ performance, students will know only how to answer test questions. But academic credits are only a small part of education assessment. When students start working, their skills in communication, in solving real problems and in originally and independently dealing with the world are essential factors for their success. Let exams dominate the school calendar. The educational pattern will be self-propagating, nobody knowing what and why they learn. But we still have reasons to be optimistic. Education administrations could try to plan the quality-oriented education in schools. If text books are accordingly changed and teachers are trained, children in the future will certainly be inventors instead of copy-cats.
