Although the saying "The while we keep a man waiting, he reflects on our shortcomings" stresses the great significance of punctuality, many people attach little importance to punctuality, which, in my opinion, will not only show your shortcomings but also give rise to many problems. First, you may impress other people as being unreliable and dishonest.
