I’m pleased to talk about the recent developments in the British economy and its short-term outlook. I should like to say that we have now already enjoyed 5 years of strong growth and economic stability.  During this period,  CDP growth has averaged 3. 5% per year.  The unemployment rate has sunk to below 10% , and it is decreasing further. Inflation has been kept well under control.
     The outlook for the British economy is bright.  In this year, .total production growth will exceed 3%. The driving factor is exports to China: its value decreased by 16% in the first 7 months of this year. The most dynamic and important industry is production of IT equipment, which increased its output by 30%. The increased share of exports and the recent success in IT industry reflects the excellent competitive position the British economy has gained in the past few years. This success and growth gives us the confidence that the British economy will continue developing steadily.
