For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay entitled Limiting the Use of Private Cars. You should write at least 150 words but no more than 200 words following the outline given below.
1.现如今,私家车与日俱增
2.私家车增多带来诸多问题
3.如何有效限制私家车使用
选项
答案
Our society is witnessing a dramatic growth in the number of private cars. As the economy develops by leaps and bounds, more and more people prefer private cars to public transportation. Along with the conveniences brought by private cars are some serious problems. First and foremost, environmental pollution is going from bad to worse due to the increase of carbon emission by private vehicles. What’s more, the rising number of private cars has by far exceeded the development of the road networks, thus making traffic jams a big problem. Lastly, we are obviously faced with a much higher rate of road accidents. In view of these problems, we had better take effective measures to limit the use of private cars. In the first place, it is essential for the government to encourage citizens to choose bikes, buses, or subways. In the second place, higher taxes can be collected from private car owners so that they will think twice before buying a car. With these and some other relevant measures, I firmly believe the problems can be properly handled.
