It has become a prevailing trend for parents to send their children to different art classes. With regard to this phenomenon, some people hold a positive view. They claim that attending art classes can help nurture children’s interest and tap their potentials in such art as painting, music and dancing. This, they believe, will contribute to children’s all-round development. Others, however, hold an opposite view. They argue that not all children are interested or talented in art, or a child may not be fond of all forms of art. Forcing these children to attend art classes will burden the children already buried in the piles of school work. Worse still, it deprives them of the right and chance to discover their hidden talents. Personally, I believe that art education benefits children and going to art classes is an effective means to find out and give full play to children’s talent in art. But before deciding what kind of art classes to send their children to, parents should take the kids’ interests and will into consideration. After all, as the saying goes, the fittest is the best.
