答案 A thick trunk has been grafted onto a weak and thin trunk, making the previously small tree appear taller and leafier. A man points at the graft and excitedly praises it to the skies. While the man gives the thumbs up without hesitation, I seriously doubt whether the tree can grow healthily after an excessively huge graft is put on it. The graft symbolizes experience and this picture encourages us to think about how to effectively learn from others’ successful experience. Others’ successful experience is indeed of great value for people who are chasing after their own success. It brings insights, wisdom and inspiration. However, if people are absorbed in success lessons which are beyond their comprehension or not relevant to their original life purposes, they, instead of making progress, will be strained, puzzled and stuck. What’s more worrisome is that those lessons may give some people the illusion of success, making the simple life more suitable for them intolerable and then causing unnecessary frustrations in their life. People can not benefit from success lessons distant from their life, just as the tree in the above picture can not grow thick because of the grafted thick trunk. People should have rational understanding of their abilities, establish reasonable life goals and learn from relevant success lessons.
