This special day brings back sweet memories of many dedicated teachers, among whom Mr. Li, my Chinese language teacher in junior school, is the most unforgettable. As a poor and dull speaker, I was once paralyzed into silence when my turn came in a class speaking contest. With my palms sweating and my throat tightened, I rushed back to my seat amidst my classmates’ laughter, greatly embarrassed. On the late evening that day, Mr. Li came and asked me to accompany him to a child welfare center to give a hand on weekends, not mentioning a word of my failure. There, we read books to the orphans, told them stories, and taught them songs. Gradually, I found myself more outgoing and popular with my peers. By making me feel useful and important, Mr. Li showed me that I could make a difference. The fine impressions of the teachers will remain forever in my most cherished memories.
