How to approach Listening Test Part Two
•This part of the Listening Test tests your understanding of numbers, names and spelling in a telephone call.
•Before you listen, read the form. Think about the telephone call you will hear.
•Note all possible answers as you listen for the first time. Do not make an immediate decision.
•Do not worry if you do not know the answers. You will hear the recording a second time.
•Listen for overall meaning. Do not choose an answer just because you hear the same words in the recording as in the question.
•Decide on your final answer only after you have listened for the second time.
•Look at the notes below.
•Some information is missing.
•You will hear an answerphone message about a conference booking.
•For each question 9-15, fill in the missing information in the numbered space using a word, numbers or letters.
•You will hear the conversation twice.

Hello. This is a message from the Forest Hotel about the one-day conference you’re organising. My name’s Helen Lennox, L-E- double N-O-X. Although the 14th of June is still fully booked, the 21 st is now possible as there’s been a sudden cancellation. I know you wanted the Highland Room - but the room that’s become available, the Border Room, is the only one free then.
The fee for the package, including lunch, is£1,430. I understand this suits your budget, which was around £1,500 for the day. But any accommodation would be extra. You said the idea was to invite 60 delegates-but I’d better ware you that no more than 58 people fit comfortably into the room. You’ll need to refer to your booking reference number if you confirm the reservation-it’s 271Q. Oh, and don’t forget to put COR-for ’corporate’- before that. We can hold the room for only five days.
Please get in touch directly with me on 820 3394-rather than with Susan Parker who you spoke to earlier. It’s easier to phone me on that direct number than through the 3358 switchboard number. Do call soon if you’d like to confirm the reservation. Goodbye.
