答案 Chinese Literature s Reading Rate According to the chart, the reading percentage of literate Chinese is continuing to decline. From 2007 to 2010, the number rapidly dropped 11.7% among the literate in China. More than half of the literate population didn’t read in the year 2010. With the increasing pace of life, the widespread use of the Internet, and constant exposure to media, traditional reading habits seem to be disappearing. This great and ancient country is now facing a real reading crisis! Reading is a deeply intellectual activity, resulting in increased knowledge. It is through reading that ideologies are created and embraced by humans. Watching TV and surfing the Internet are considered "shallow reading", where only surface information is gained. A person who habitually "reads" in this way becomes intellectually lazy and is, without exception, found to be deficient in his studies and eventually unfit for society. To improve the reading ability of the entire population of China, great attention from the government and the vigorous participation of the whole society are required. We students have a great responsibility to join in the reading campaign throughout our country. Remember: the nation that has the strongest reading ability will be the most competitive nation and the final victor. Let’s read for China’s great revival!
